Better retention with passkeys

Passkeys were designed with improving security as their top concern, but they also offer another huge advantage over passwords: better retention.

Google examined their own data on same-device passkey use vs passwords in March-April 2023, and showed impressive results:

While the rate of successfully authenticating with passwords was only 13.8%, passkeys more than quadrupled that to 63.8%.

2x faster sign-ins

According to the same study, signing in with a passkey took half as long as signing in with a password (14.9 seconds vs 30.4 seconds).
